Stopped at the feed store yesterday and ordered my meat birds. 16 of them. I might order more if when "Homegrowed" moves, she might be willing to sell me her freezer. Ooops I guess I should have talked to her about that before posting it on the internet ey? ;D "Hey Homegrowed, are you interested in possibly selling your freezer?" It was just a thought! ;D Anyway, I also ordered 6 more Barred Rock babies too, just in the hopes of getting a nice roo... So come the middle of May, I should have 43 chickens in my backyard! ;D Oh, and I may put Cochin eggs in the 'bator, and I have a friend searching for turkey eggs for me

Sounds like the makin's of a good flock.
DH and I have been kicking around the idea of raising some turkeys. Not sure if they are worth the trouble or not.

Momo, from what I can gather, the heritage breeds are easy to care for, but they eat ALOT! So if I were going to do it, I'd make sure to have enough left over to sell to cover the cost of your feed.
