At my last house, believe it or not I never owned anything related to a curtain or a drape other then a few homemade valances. I bought full-length living room curtains a few months ago and new black rod iron rods. The curtains have that button tab effect, and are about an inch too long. I just checked and they are 100 % cotton duck fabric. My mom had said to just rehem them, or I toyed with placing the rods on the wall about that much higher, yet the bracket holes lined up perfectly with the already existing holes on the top of the window frames. My thought...I can shrink anything if I put my mind to it. Do you think that would work? It's just that I hate to wash and dry them when they are still yet so new, but I don't know what it would hurt to try. On HGTV, the decorating TV channel, they always show curtains flopping down on the ground but it bothers me, and I hate to take time to rehem them because I somehow assume they will shrink the first time I wash them anyway. Can't hurt to try washing them in hopes that they shrink a bit. If that doesn't work, then you'll have to hem them. If you hem them first, then wash them later, and they shrink then, they will be too short... Kaza

Thank you, Kaza. It's so cold and blustery out today, I just might just try my hand at in the shrinkage dept. If it works, I will feel much better. Deb ;D
