Our nearest town had scheduled a "all town" emergency. Everyone was notified that they were able to get free flu shots on a specific day. From 6 months old on up, everybody qualified. Supposedly the fire dept, Red cross, police, and school district wants to practice what would happen if a pandemic influenza swept the area and this was one way to gather a large amount of people to practice their drill. They are even keeping all kids after school up until 9pm to practice keeping the kids contained and safe AND giving all the kids their flu shoots. The letter we got didn't say whether those kids had to have permission slips signed or not. (My kids are homeschooled, so we are not privy to that info) It didn't take place because the day it was suppose to happen a mud slide took out the highway. But it has been rescheduled for a later date. I ask....WHY? Doesn't that seem a little strange? For one, why would I go somewhere strange, and have a stranger inject something into my body? Another concern is...does the government think something is going to happen where these drills are necessary? I think its one thing for the personel do do a practice drill but to involve the towns citizens by offering free flu shots is pushing it a little. Could be that I am just paranoid, but I ain't doing it!

I have never had a flu shot, and never plan to.

I know I'm paranoid, but this just sounds weird to me. I can understand emergency services wanting to drill but not by holding the community hostage for several hours. I'm inclined to believe those shots will contain something other than the flu shot. I'm with Kazz, I've never had nor intend to have the flu shot so I would be staying home that day.

Yep...sounds a little odd to me! I haven't heard of anything like that around here...but this close to DC we would likely be zapped so hard in an emergency that a flu shot wouldn't do us much good! Someone would have to come clean all of us up with a giant dust buster if they dropped the bomb!! LOL! Ya' gotta laugh at stuff like that...or it would just be too weird to deal with! Now I am wondering BBird...they did the drill in case of an emergency..what if the emergency IS a mudslide? LOL!

Lol, since we just had another mudslide about 2 miles from us yesterday I can tell you that mudslides cause major chaos! This mudslide they said would take up to 3 weeks to clear because the ground is so unstable if they move the mud more land will fall.
Its kind of funny because what I hear about the practice drill with the flu shots...everybody seems like it is a good thing to be prepared but no one has questioned if there is a concern about needing the drill. I can understand it to a point because my brother who is the fire chief in a different state, is also the head of Homeland Security for the area and they do a lot of drills but the free flu shots just creep me out. To me its like walking up to a stranger and asking them to inject me with whatever they have. I wouldn't really know what they are injecting, if the needles were clean, and if the person giving me the shot was qualified. No thank you..I think I'll pass, lol.

Likely...it really IS a flu shot...but in my case...every time I have had a flu shot..I got a BAD case of the flu...and normally I NEVER get that stuff! IF they were trying to trick everyone...it DOES sound like a not so clever way to do it....and you gotta wonder about folks that just do what they are told without ever questioning it! This world is sometimes a scary scary place! BTW....the flu shots that I have gotten were administered by my hubby when he worked for a doc's office. He is a GOOD shot giver and they didn't hurt at all...and of course...if he DID have something to contract....since we have been married over 23 years....it would be a little late now! LOL! I would NOT want to get a shot from some stranger with some strange needle and some unknown "stuff" inside the syringe. No thanks! I agree with you!
