That is a good deal! I was wondering what the fuel usage would be and it isn't bad at all~ 12hrs at 50% with a 4 gal tank.
How many hours do you think a person would have to run a generator to keep a freezer that was full and frozen when the power went out stay frozen?

A full freezer will 'keep' for quite a while all on it's own if it isn't opened any more than absolutely necessary. Obviously, chest-type freezers are better in this regard than uprights. Just a guess, but I'd think that if one didn't let things start to thaw, you might only have to run the freezer a couple of hours per day, or maybe even every other day if it's left closed.

i'm thinking along with Kyosa. i'd try an hour, hour and a half. once in the morning, once at night.
unless it's full of haagen dazs, coffee ice cream. then i'll take one for the team and start eating immediately.

Cool, I have both types but the upright is my last storage before cooking. The chest freezer is where all the long term meat and veggie storage takes place. That little bugger is packed solid! I move items from the chest to the upright on a couple week schedule or when I find a deal that needs to go in the chest freezer. No Coffee ice cream but I do have some peach sherbet.
