If the world that we know it suddenly changed, are you ready?? Do you have enough survival skills and info to survive?? Keep things simple. Use leafs for insulation and build crude shelters if neccessary. Find a cave on your property or locate one somewhere else. Use solar and wind for your needs instead of feeding the electric beasts.Keep cash on hand, rolled coins. Remember some things: ropes, tarps, flashlights, batteries, candles, matches, filter for water, wilderness surving books and fox fire books, duct tape, guns, ammo, bows and arrows, knives, axes, shovel handy, some zip lock bags. Use dew as a water source. Dig a root cellar, barter with some friends for supplies if needed.Keep a survival get out quick kit close. Remember you may have to travel so you aren't able to carry tons of stuff. Practice trying to survive. then, you will know what areas your family are strong or weak. Practice in your yard close to home. then, go out in the woods and try it for a couple of days. tnborn

My Family could if we had to....just hope it never comes to that. Have horses that we could use to pack more stuff if needed. This clime would not be hard to find them food on the go.

Berge, I like the horse packing idea. I never thought about horses silly me.I have thought about gas mask and chemical suits might be a good idea. then again, it is a little tin foil hat. tnborn

Horses were our planned mode of transportation, too, but then we lost two of them. So I hope nothing happens where we have to bug out before we can get more. Rich used to wonder why we had to have three horses when there were only the two of us, and I told him we needed a pack horse (duh!). The problem was, of all three of those wonky horses, which would be the pack horse? Well, for sure the pack horse is in pack horse heaven now, because my mare certainly wouldn't do it. But I guess if we had to walk, and load her up, I could have "speaks" with her and convince her to behave.
And yes, we have all our food and equipment all in one place, ready to go, if need be. Between the two of us, skillwise, we should have no trouble surviving.

Lannie, Sometimes I think a few all day rides would mellow out our horses?? Or is it wishfull thinking? We did a nice snorting dragon ride yesterday...she was upset at all the robin's eating in the main pasture. But I think if we had to do something and had no choice...she might act good for once, because she would know there was a big job to do.

Make your emergency preparedness kits mobile in case of having to evacuate.Another option is have a good storage area already stocked and prepared. tnborn

Always good to get an update on this thread Tnborn...Thank you!
One thing that I am trying at this point is how to handle the stress and what to do when you are the one being attacked. I guess I have lived in a fairy tale were I thought that when the shtf I have the power. I have the knowledge to hide, to survive, to protect myself but I always imagined that I would have more knowledge then the enemy. Even if it was an invasion. I'm not so sure now, maybe because I am in the frame of mind that we protect our house, our land, ect. Things that I wouldn't think would be a problem are a problem. I feel very very vulnerable inside our house. Yet not ready to seek the comforts of more comfortable spots outside. Our best bet now that we have learned a few more things is to totally leave the safety of our house, which is really the last thing that we wanted to do. I think to put us at an advantage we would have to seek our refuge and go from there.
Of course that is in the case of home invasions, lol.
I'm stocked up more then I have ever been and that feels good. Food wise.....I think I could open a restaurant! Have added pistols to our collection, and I like what I am feeling from them. Brings a convenience that I personally haven't felt from a rifle, which is saying a lot because I like rifles. Added night vision monoscope which I really like for outside, but do not work very well from in your house looking through a window.
Ammo is getting spendy here lately. Not huge stocks in stores either, and the last few times buying ammo I have taken everything on the shelfs they had for what I needed, so am having to buy more often.

Since I was hurt..nope..not ready at all. My little world is a bit of a mess as it is. Did order some herloom organic Veggie seeds though. If we could keep the land..we could feed ourselves...but the men would have to do all the work at this point. Normally I am stocked up on everything..but we can't just right now. So what will happen will happen. Can't afford to worry about it until it happens.

Heavy duty rope from army surplus stores are handy. cammo netting to hide things in the woods if neccessary. Things have to be mobile. we can't haul a truck load of stuff. Water is always an issue.

If the world that we know it suddenly changed, are you ready?? Do you have enough survival skills and info to survive?? SURVIVE!!! you must be joking with my supplies, skills and intestinal fortitude. i shall rise above. i shall use my preps to hoist the yoke of servitude on the less prepared. they shall plow my fields, fetch my water and clean my chamber pot. i shall be a king of sheeple. in the aftermath life will be better(for me) than it ever was before. i shall thrive. i wish this post apocalyptic event would get here soon, the chamber pot is almost overflowing.
