What a neat list and site, auntie, and a wonderful reminder. I didn't take time to download the site, but will later. A few other things came to mind, too. I was thinking of watermelon, radishes, kohlrabi, and pickles, would they count? I don't honestly know if that is true or just something I heard...I was bummed I didn't see tomatoes, for I am sitting here feeling guilty wishing my hot salsa was a negative calorie food, and it may be close, but what I am eating it with certainly isn't. Oh, oh. :-*Deb

:-[cheesecake is NOT a negative calorie food either is it? Actually, auntie, I already forwarded the site to a friend who knows he needs to work on his weight. The thing is, I see primarily healthy eating habits, but when a person takes those same negative calorie foods, say asparagus...any vegetable, but lathers it in butter or whatever...That rather defeats it. I have been trying to gently and tactfully work on him a little that way. He likes to pretend I just make stuff up for the fun of it, so, I thought, wow, that was from a real website. He can read this for himself, or not. Thank you. Deb

Hard boiled eggs are also considered a negative calorie food. Each one contains 90 calories and takes the human body 110 calories to digest!

A friend once went on a diet for about a week, only eating hard-boiled eggs and fresh oranges. She said she never even felt hungry, and she was trying to quit smoking at the same time. Deb

Deb I wouldn't feel hungry, either, if I spent most of the day vomiting up eggy oranges. Ugh. ----- I'm curious about the cucumbers. I thought I remembered reading they were nothing but carbs. If a food has a lot of carbs but is a negative calorie food, I wonder if I can lose weight by including it in my diet? I'm happy to see spinach on the list because I've been eating a lot of that lately. I used to hate spinach but now I think it's really yummy! (I eat it raw, not cooked in butter ) /VM

I found this site with some more tips when using the Negative Calorie diet. www.webterrace.com/diet/negative.htmThere does seem to be some controversy surrounding the science behind negative calorie diets. But from what I've been reading; most of the listed items would still be helpful on any diet since they're all fairly low calorie, low/mod carb and high fiber. Beets and carrots would be less desirable on a low carb diet though.

What with so many people dieting I as a great cook and hostest Ialways remove ALL calories from MY guest meals. (ok I saw the funny icons where are they now) It's a special talent I have.
I used to do fancy cooking for dinner parties and I would have to keep track of certain peoples dietary needs I had special menus to hide that some one had a special need.
If anyone is interest in some tricks I pulled I will type them up.
