Add water chestnuts to your stir-fries, salads, or any meals where you need a crunchy consistency.
Canned, unopened water chestnuts will store indefinitely.
Does any one have a recipe with water chestnuts? I like the crunchy of water chestnuts.

Starfire, the recipes I have are mostly for appetizers or stirfries. Here's a couple that are good for snacks or a party appetizer. Water Chestnut Wraparounds INGREDIENTS:1/4 cup soy sauce 2 tablespoons white sugar 2 (5 ounce) cans water chestnuts, drained 10 slices bacon, cut in half DIRECTIONS:1. Combine soy sauce and sugar. Stir in water chestnuts. Marinate chestnuts overnight.(I use a zip lock bag) 2. Wrap bacon slice around each chestnut. Fasten with a wooden pick. Place on a rack in shallow baking pan. 3. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-35 minutes or till bacon is crisp. Serve hot. These are good if you're making a batch of fried rice for dinner-they add just a little extra to the meal. Spinach Dip Recipe ingredients:1 cup low-fat plain yogurt 4 green onions, chopped 1 (10 ounce) package frozen spinach, finely chopped and drained ( I squeeze it dry) 1 (8 ounce) can water chestnuts, finely chopped 1 cup mayonnaise 1 (2 1/3 ounce) package knorrs vegetable soup mix 1 loaf unsliced round rye bread or pumpernickel bread or sourdough bread Combine above ingredients except bread and chill. Cut out center of bread into cube size pieces for dipping. Fill center with dip and serve.
