For a couple of years now I've been working off a master menu, a list of all the supper dishes I make regularly. It simplifies things a good deal. When chicken legs are on sale, I can scan the list to see what I might make of them; if the kids wail that "we had that last week" I have PROOF that we most certainly did not; there's no brainstorming when doing up the grocery list - instead, I pick through the master list and take what sounds good this time around.
But sometimes you can get tired of the same dishes. Even when you have a ton of them.
So, I thought it might be a heck of a deal for us to post up our "master menus" (you don't have to have one handy, a quickie list of the things you make most often is peachy). We can peek at each others' files for inspiration or new recipes.
Here's mine:
Chicken Fried Chicken Chicken Pot Chicken Alfredo Chicken in Onion Sauce Teriyaki Chicken Roast Chicken Chicken Cordon Bleu Burgers Chicken Soup Tortilla Soup
Pork Pork Roast Pork Chops Pork in Mustard Sauce * Pulled Pork Sandwiches Fajitas
Beef Steaks Beef Stroganoff Japanese Stew Beef Roast Stew Fried Steaks English Roast*
Hamburger Cheeseburger pie Chili* Taco Salad Red Beans and Rice* Lasagna* Spaghetti Swiss Steaks Chili Dogs* Meatloaf
Cured Pork Eggs/Bacon/Fried Potatoes Mini Pizzas* Ham Steaks Spam Fried Rice Sausage Potato Chowder Sausage Potato Fry
Any BBQ * Subs Fajitas
Junk Salisbury Steak * Chicken Tenders * Pizza
Beans/Veg Quesadillas Burritos Bean Soup Grilled Cheese Mexican Beans/Rice/Tortillas Split Pea Soup Potato Chowder
Fish Fried fish Clam Chowder

Wow! What a varied menu! I'm impressed One question...what's Chicken Pot? I go through spells where I make something a lot and then for some reason I forget about it until I remember it again. Keeping a proper list like that would be really nice. I'll organise a list and then post it. /VM

Wow! What a varied menu! I'm impressed I'm a freak for the kitchen. My life's goal is to one day be a really fat Gran who smells of pastry. This sloppy homemade chicken gravy that's more chicken than gravy, served on rice. Total comfort food, it'll cure what ails ya. Dunno why it's called that, just what my family has always named it. Easier to say than "pot of chicken with enough gravy to thin it some", I guess. Awaiting yours with relish!

Kathy, I see three already that I know I make but didn't have on my list (chicken fried steaks, tuna patties and tuna casserole). It's too hard to think of them all. We haven't had tuna in ages; think I'll throw that on the menu for tomorrow night.
