I know this doesn't really fit here so if the mod sees fit to more it to one of the food forums great. I didn't see a forum for grilling so I'm putting this here. I bought myself a new Weber grill, it's still in the box I also bought a stainless steel grilling wok or grilling basket, it has holes all over it, it's not solid metal. Have any of you used one of these? I'm thinking of grilling some salmon on Friday and wanted to grill some veggies in the basket. I'm thinking zucchini, onions, carrots, ....... Please make suggestions. Do I need to oil the veggies and season them first? Do I oil the basket? Darn thing didn't come with directions. Thanks for any help. BTW. if you move this thread can you post a link to where it is.

I have never used one of those baskets. I grill fish alot but I either use a toaster oven or the BBQgrill. Since salmon is a little dry I usually dribble a little olive oil and butter & seasonings over it. If it is a big enough chunk I lay it right on the sprayed grill surface. (Something like Pam, you can even use your own little sprayer) If it is small I normally put it in a foilf packet before I put it on the grill.

Thank Momo! I know how I want to grill the fish, I have a fish basket for those. The grill basket or wok is what I was talking about, for the veggies only. It basically looks like a square metal bowl with holes in it. Like a square colander or strainer only this has a flat bottom. Here is a picture of the exact one I have tinyurl.com/ncqvq

Ok, somehow this stayed back in Hearth & Home. So I'm reposting it to keep it where it belongs. How do I do these things?? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ March, I have a grilling sheet with holes in it as well as a grilling wok/basket thingy. I love them both! I do oil all of my baskets/woks/grills before starting even though they're supposed to be non stick. I use a fish basket for my salmon but it's basically the same thing-just fish shaped. For my grilled veggies; I do a mix of colored sweet bell peppers, summer squash, zucchini, yellow onions cut in strips & pea pods/sugar snap peas. Sometimes I add slightly steamed baby carrots. I marinate them all in a mix of 2 parts olive oil, 1 part lemon juice(I have used lime for a different taste) fresh ground black pepper, and some kosher salt. I put all the prepared veggies in a big zip lock bag with the oil/juice mix and let it marinate for only a couple of hours. Grill till they're done to your desired level(I like them crisp tender). Enjoy......
