That's a good question, Slim. That might seem like a lot of money, but just think of all that wonderful fresh produce and I don't think a person would be able to stretch that amt. of money too far in a grocery store these days, plus think of the inferior quality you would be getting as well as not knowing where it came from. That's what I hate the most about grocery store produce. Honestly, I haven't kept track the last couple yrs. although I did the years I market gardened. Maybe it's more like I don't want to know for gardening supplies/seed is my one little indulgence in life. Each year I have some saved seeds and leftovers from the previous season which helps a lot. This year, though, I am spending far more on trees/bushes then I normally would, but it needs to be done. Deb ;D

I do not mind the price when I get the Certified Organic seed. Know how much work it is to get good heirloom seeds like that.
Start up costs can be a bit spendy. But you can collect your own seed from your own plants year to year...that helps even out the costs. ;D

I'm spending alot this year too, but I have to keep reminding myself that I'm also stocking up a bit just in case TSHTF! Still haven't figured out the difference between Heritage, Heirloom, Determinate etc.... Maybe I shall start a thread about that if someone else hasn't already.

We would love to discuss that and our preferences. We are all just learning or reviewing together. That's the whole joy of gardening. ;D Deb

I spent $20.00 and got everything from veggies to flowers. I have heirlooms, so I save seeds each year to plant the following year. Maybe this fall/winter we should do a seed swap with each other.
