Well, I gave up on the idea of putting the Tomatoes and Artichokes in pots this year. Just got done putting them in the ground. Of course it decided to rain right after. So if the gophers/moles/voles and chickens don't get them.......

Do you have to do anything special to grow artichokes in your area? I always wanted to try growing them-I bet they're impressive looking plants. I still have some veggies to get planted and a lot more herbs. It has rained so often in AR that the ground is soggy and clumps up into VW size gobs of clay. Well maybe not VW size but Yugo size for sure! ;D

We have globs of clay here too. Sigh ~ ~ Artichoke's like lots of calcium. I use Crushed Oyster Shells, as they are slow release and work really well. That and horse manure. Are impressive looking plants I think, but hubby things they are ugly. They are sooo yummy fresh! I do not care what the plants look like. ;D

I finally have tomatos coming in!!! I'll be having fresh maters in about a week. I can't wait! We've gotten a few radishes but so far that's it. The beans are putting on like crazy and the eggplant is getting there and I have 1 cabbage ready (been growing since Oct!) and the squash is blossoming....Gonna be busy here before long...
