Any ideas on how to get rid of cucmber beetles organically? My research says hand pick or spray with carbyl which is poisionous to bees. I am afraid I won't be able to keep up with them by hand piking.

I haven't found a way to fix this problem without causing a bigger one. I am overrun with cukes but so far all I've gotten is one zucchini-that's just not right! I've been using a power spray to get them off but they just come back. Hand picking them off must just encourage other ones to show up. I'll be watching to see what others have found to be effective. I had such plans for zucchini bread, zucchini relish, etc.

Someone on HT suggested using 1 tsp dish soap, 1/2 cp vinegar, and 2-3cps water in a trigger spray bottle. I'm going to try it this afternoon or tomorrow if it rains like they promised.

Try vacuuming them off with a handheld vacuum cleaner.

Try vacuuming them off with a handheld vacuum cleaner. That's a good idea, I happen to have one of those just sitting around. Thanks! ;D

I don't have a hand held but I do have a small shop vac. Thanks for the suggestion.
