I picked our first ripe tomato today! It's from an Early Girl and isn't big at all, but it's a real-live tomato. We think we're doing OK if we can have ripe tomatoes by July 4th and this year I got one. That being said, it's going to be a while before there are any more, next will most likely be some Romas. The Brandywines, Whoppers, and Supersonics have tomatoes on, but they're still small.

Lucky You!! Congratulations; getting that first tomato is always a garden milestone. I have a lot of blossoms but no tomatoes as of yet. Peppers on the other hand are going great guns! ;D Oh and my cabbage are heading up!!

How exciting!! There is something about seeing your first tomato of the season. So are you going to share it with WW or eat it yourself? lol Nothing like a homegrown mater!
I'm holding out hope that I get red tomato's this year. I bought bigger plants (early girl and big boys) and the early girls are blooming already. Usually I have a bunch of green tomatos that I have to hang upside down in the barn when the first frost comes because the season isn't long enough and then hope for a handful to eat. I've always bought dinky plants before though.

I picked up 2 more tomato plants today, will try again. Looks like the rain is slacking off. Grape tomatoes this time. I saw a squirrel loping through my "garden" area today. Squirrels don't like tomatoes, do they???

Squirrels don't like tomatoes, do they??? I'm told that if the weather gets extremely dry they'll bite into tomatoes seeking moisture. I've never had it happen, but if I did have damage due to dry conditions I think I'd try setting out some pans of water around the garden perimeter.

It's raining here —again— even as we speak. I'm going stir-crazy with the cabin fever.... argh.
