The old man down the road brought us up some tomatos and cucumbers. They are just huge, and after thanking him I asked how he got them so big because I can't grow squat, lol.
He said that he puts miracle grow on the garden every weekend. Now I am scared to eat them because isn't miracle grow the stuff people put on there lawns to make the grass grow? I'm sure its not going to kill me since the old guy has to be at least 85 years old and he ain't dead from it but thought I'd ask the gardeners in the group if that stuff is suppose to be put on food things.

This is strictly my admittedly uninformed opinion I don't use MG on my garden and probably wouldn't be eager to can up a mess of tomatoes that had been treated with it. However, I would say eating a few well-washed veggies wouldn't do any more damage to me than anything else I eat. I'm sure there will be other opinions and I don't have much factual information to back me up so I wouldn't argue with someone who feels differently. /Via

They're OK to eat, Deb. There's no "withdrawal" on Miracle Gro. You can eat something the day you use it. I use MG myself, but not every day - I use it maybe 2 or 3 times a summer, if the plants look like they need a boost. It's just nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. ~Lannie

Cool! The tomatos are tempting me today so I will eat some for dinner then. Now that I know I won't die, lol.
I might just have to get me some Miracle grow next summer and see if that helps my poor little green tomatos.
