I never make pot pie but my mother did and her filling was basically a nice hearty beef stew thickened. Bladesmith posted a Chicken Pot Pie recipe and the crust on it looks very good. So maybe Bladesmiths crust with your own Beef/Venison stew for the filling.

Ground Beef Pot Pie Please bear with me, I don't do recipes.. if I get too confusing just lemme know and I'll try again I make this in a large oblong casserole dish. Brown 1 1/2-2lbs ground beef with 1 small onion, drain off most of the fat. Add in flour to 'muck up' the meat, about 3-4tblspoons. Stir the meat around in the flour over medium heat to get rid of the 'flour' taste. Then add water (2 cups?) to thin it back out. Basically hamburger gravy. Add in whatever veggies you prefer (I have done canned, frozen and leftovers). Typically I use green peas, carrots, and potatoes. Stir up the meat/gravy/veggies and put into the pan. Mix up a package of cornbread mix (not sweet) and pour over the top. Bake at the temp on the cornbread mix until the crust is done. I have also used pie crust. And when I have time or am feeling creative I bake the bottom crust first, add ingredients, then bake the top crust. Did that help at all?
