1/2 pound (2 sticks) butter, soften (not margarine) 1 cup granulated sugar 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 cups all-purpose flour 2 1/2 cups rolled oats 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 bag (12 ounces) chocolate chips 3 plain Hershey’s, grated (I use) OR 1 plain semisweet or milk chocolate bar (8 ounces), grated 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans, (I use) or walnuts, almonds
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugars. Mix in the eggs and vanilla extract. Mix in the flour, oats, baking soda, baking powder, and salt and mix together. Roll dough into small balls (no bigger then ping pond ball size) and place about 2 inches apart in lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake for 6 to 7 minutes.
These are so good! ;D

sf, this sounds really yummy! Raisins are evil so even though I love oatmeal cookies, I usually won't eat them because they're chock-a-block with raisins. Thank you for posting this! /VM

Starfire, I'm going to make those but since I don't eat dark or milk chocolate; I'm going to substitute white chocolate. I'm in a cooking/baking mood so I'll add these to the list of goodies I'm making.
Via, do you like dates? I've found that in many oatmeal cookie recipes you can substitute chopped/diced dates. Since I like both raisins & dates-sometimes I'll use 1/2 of each. ;D

(IMHO ;D) However, in this case, if it looks like a raisin and "chews" like a raisin, you can call it anything you want but I still won't eat it. I'm sticking with chocolate! I can smell it from a mile away and I hear it calling to me every afternoon about this time. Hmm...be right back... /VM

My mother had some white chocolate morsels left in a bag and she added them also. It was good.
