1 (4 ounce) package German sweet chocolate ¼ cup butter 1 (14-ounce) can evaporate milk 1 ½ cups sugar 2 eggs 3 tablespoon cornstarch 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 1/3 cups coconut, flaked ½ cup pecans, chopped 1 unbaked pie shell
Melt chocolate and butter. Remove from heat and blend in milk. Mix sugar, salt, and cornstarch. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Slowly add chocolate and milk. Stir in nuts and coconut, reserving ¼ cup coconut for garnish. Pour into pie shell. Sprinkle with coconut. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 40 minutes. Remove from oven and cover loosely with aluminum foil. Return to oven and bake 20 minutes longer until top is puffed and cracked. Cool before serving.
