Well finally, I'm soooo excited! I bought my Doeling and I get to bring her home as soon as the weather warms up a bit!!! The farm was beautiful. This man breeds for the meat market but all of his does are Saanen so I knew I could find a good milker there. There were so many to choose from! It was quite an experience! ;D Here are only a few. My beautiful girlie! I was going to name her Daphne, but she just doesn't "look" like a Daphne. I'm thinking maybe Taffy? What name goes good with Nigel? Edited to add ~ More pic's coming as soon as I finish uploading them!

They're soooooo cute! They have the sweetest little faces. I think you should go get the other one so they can grow up together. What about Chloe and Zoe?

Cute but they weren't disbudded... Does that bother you? It wouldn't bother me in the least but later on if you have to sell them, most dairy people pitch green fits over them having horns. Would you mind giving a ball park figure of what you paid for her? I'm wanting to expand my milkers to include 2 full sized does but I'm not sure if I can afford it. I like Saanens (sp?) They are so sweet usually and give really good milk. Usually their udders are very good and you have so few problems.

I'm actually kinda glad she still has horns. She's going to be living with Nigel (Pygmy wether) and he still has his horns! So if he gets goofy, she can poke him back! He's going to be SO excited when I bring her home !!! Edited to add ~ She was $100.00 from a Mum who throws triplets! Now, this guy just breeds for meat, so I think if I had gone to a dairy breeder, I would have probably paid close to $200.00. I think I got lucky, he is also a friends brother!

I think you should call her Pan.
What a cutie pie. I think you should go back for the other one.

I'd be in so much trouble if I visited a goat herd as nice as that one. I'd have brought home not only 'carmel' but probably 4 more. She's a beautiful little gal; I love her muzzle and sweet innocence ;D Go ahead, go back and get her sister....You know you want too! All of my dairy goat herd had their horns except for 2 adults that were part of my foundation group and were dehorned before I bought them. We never had any problems or injuries within my herd of 23 French Alpines, Saanens and two pygmies. But I had an open floorplan dairy barn which may have helped.

At $100 you got a deal! Get me one too! I'm sure we can ship via the USPS... I like horns too but the majority of dairy folks don't. Supposedly it makes them nervous. Personally I think it's a bunch of hooey but I'm not all that experienced in dairy herds.

LOL Cricket, I live in Canada ! If I lived in the States I'd be more than happy to help you get a goat, but I think it might be a bit of a pain now days to get critters across the border, or at least, I don't think I'm brave enough to try!
