I miss my horses. I miss talking to them, brushing them and riding them. Been pondering getting a horse again.... but I haven't seen anything that caught my eye so to speak. I'm partial to tall horses (Cassie was 16.5 and Heartbeat was 17.1) and I love the tobiano paints. Then again, Arabians would be perfect IF they were a tad taller (aint easy having long legs ya know) Ohhhhh decisions, decisions... I guess if I am meant to have a horse again, the right one will just pop into my life somehow. Kaza

How about a 13.3 Icelandic! <VBG> She is beautiful,,,well bred, very talented, super smooth and loves people. <LOL>
It is the build of the horse that takes up legs. My 12.3 Grey Icelandic mare takes up my leg much better than a friends 16.2 QH. That QH has a much more narrow body than my grey Ice mare. Rode the QH once way before the accident..not only is it a pain to get on..am too far from the ground and more narrow than I am used too. But you are a very brave sort....... <VBG>
Only problem with bigger horses...they normally need more care than smaller ones..cost more to feed and all that. Over your way and a bit south...the prices of horses are way,,,way down. More than likely...if you take your time looking..find what you want and a good price too.
I would love another Fjord..there is just something about their temperament. But I need gaited..and gaited Fjords are very rare and never for sale.
Good luck on your horse hunt and lets us know what you find.

No offense Bergere, but I'll never own or ride another "pony". It was a pony that I had the bad horse accident off from. Maybe that's why I lean toward the taller, bigger horses. Years ago, I owned a black Shire with white blaze and stockings.... talk about a nice, wide, tall.. SMOOTH horse!! I'm sure in time I'll find one that just screams to be mine... Ah,,but see in Iceland,,,there is no word for pony. <VBG> It is called the Icelandic horse. Smaller horses can get opinionated and are quick that is true. Fjords are a bit different...they are just scaled down draft horses and just as mellow. They might be shorter ranging from 13 to 15hands... but my 13.3 hand mare was 1100lb!!
I have always liked the Suffolk punches,,but there are so few of them around. Always wanted a super well trained mare to ride and drive. But no such beasty in this part of the country. But sadly I do not think drafts are smooth enough for me any more. I have been thinking for trying to find a gaited QH. There are two lines out there right now...though I have forgotten the line names for the moment. Have seen them in person..fairly rare because when people get them..they don't sell.
Have you tried Hosetopia or Dream Horse classifieds yet? Would be a start to see what is in your area.

Hey well,, less likely to have problems with an older horse. Sure you can find what you like...already trained and all you have to do is a little fine tuning to get the horse just the way you like it. <VBG> Its a buyers market out there right now. Glad to be of help!!
(PS,, no more young horses for me either !)

Well, you could always get a mini horse!!<LOL> Can enjoy, play with, cheap to feed, easy to fence, get a little cart to drive roadster in.... <VBG>
Keep looking there are lots out there looking for good homes!
Well, due to accidents I have gotten shorter...but that is not a recommended way on lossing height. Tall is good!!!

hehe... nahhhh... mini's are cute, but I like to ride and have a feeling my feet would drag the ground on one. Just the image of me trying to run drums on a mini did give me a chuckle tho! hehe

I know folks that race mini's in cart around barrels!! Way to crazy for me...and those little horses can move! Reminds me of the chuck wagon races up in Canada. But you got to be nuts to try it!

Yes she is very pretty! But good grief...she is bloomin tall!!! Humm..well..if you ever needed to clean the gutter on your house or need to replace a light blub,,she would come in right handy! <VBG> I do not see why she could not run barrels or do what ever you wanted her to do given time. She looks like she would be a nice all around horse for you.

I can't wait to see her. Keeping my fingers crossed... almost afraid to hope to get her, seems like when I do, something always goes wrong.
