I have to say I have an affinity for chickens. Is that the right word? "affinity?" I am however getting some turkeys this year so that may change when I see how really big they get.

Used to raise chickens, geese and turkeys. Only have emu at the moment, but am thinking the pond would sure look nice with geese again.

I'm not bob but I think those are muscovy ducks. ;D If they are muscovies then they hiss instead of quack.
My birds of choice are:
Chickens #1
Ducks #2
Geese #3

I had a lot of muscovies-over 60! Some looked like the fellow in that pic and some were solid colors. The males will get 'warty' looking heads much sooner than the females. Some of my females hardly got warty at all but boy-those males would have most of the head from the eyes up transformed into the adult wart pattern. Here's some pics of mine; they were 11 wks old at the time I took these pics:

Wow, Kathy... I have never seen muscovy adults with so little of the red fleshy stuff on their faces! Learn something new every day. I like the ones with out all that red stuff on them.
See all the ones I have ever been around started getting the red fleshy stuff with in a month or so and a lot of it. Both Drakes and Ducks. I just did not like that so I never got any myself.
Guess folks are breeding that out of them,, which I like.
They are really cute now! ;D

They are really cute now! ;D Well, those guys were only 11wks old and if you look close; one of the young drakes is already getting the warts!! It's the drake in the center on the 2nd pic. You should have seen 'Papa' duck-he had to be the wartiest muscovy I'd ever seen and he was huge-close to 15#!! Those in the pictures I posted are 'Papa' ducks offspring.

Well, Bob, you may/may not know I don't eat meat, but that is the neatest, cleanest-looking, well-organized deep freeze I have seen in years, and I am not speaking about my own for I sold mine when I moved. Good for you, sir. Deb
