A young man is making a documentary on the emu industry. He wanted to film chicks hatching, but couldn't find a farm close by. We arranged to set him up with a GQF and I sent him some eggs. They are now moving and he is very excited at the prospect. HOWEVER, he cannot keep the chicks.
If you are in the New Orleans area (or willing to go there) and want up to 8 free emu chicks, pm me.
I have to say that the bloodlines are excellent and if you take the chicks I will provide hatch records on the parents. My chicks normally produce 25 pounds of meat and an equal amount of fat at 16 months. This is on a balanced ratite feed. They do need to start on a good emu chick starter. Your local farmers coop should be able to get it.

Taylor wants them but there is no way that we could care for them as they should be cared for. I wonder is the mills family who just had the emu chick hatch would want them? I have not heard from they and in the past they had PM very quickly.

Let me know if they or some of them are available....I'd like a pair or trio. I'm not sure about the whole herd though. And are they still in New Orleans area?

Yes, they are. I have said that I would take them, he doesn't like that idea because he knows they will end up being eaten. If you want, I'll pm you his email address and you can talk to him about it.

Well, then....I guess I shouldn't just up and tell him what I plan to do, huh?? ;D What the heck does he think they're for??? I've heard of emu pets but isn't that a little extreme?
