Well the hawks have thinned down my chicken flock. >:(Some of my chickens have commited suicide by flying into the dog pens. Gheesh, i lost my golden seabright 2 days ago. Hawks are the enemy. I feel so chicken blue I would like to build my flock back up...?I just don't know if I will. tnborn

Hawks can be a major problem; I'm sorry they found your home & flock. Are your chickens free range or penned? If they're penned-could you put a chicken wire cover over the area? I finally had to do that but not because of hawks. In my case the darn bob cat would jump the 6' tall fence and have a chicken buffet!

I'm sorry Tnborn. About all you can do is fence them in (and over) for protection.

Take baling twine and string it tightly between trees or posts into a grid pattern. hawks won't fly into that...it make a humming noise in the breeze that they don't like. Works with fishing line too but you need a pretty stout test. Also, if you're doing work on the gulf you can do this so the seagulls won't come around.
