this is a copy of a group e-mail I recived about the flu scare in germany. this is going on right now and the last few days. how do you think our govt will handle it ?
The source of this is our German TV program-they share with each other.
But is was German's "First program" and "TV-24"
So as of last night, the Army had already arrived (I saw the fotos and
interviews) and 43 soldiers had blocked the only road/bridge entrance to
Rügen. All outgoing and incoming cars were being disinfected on the
outside--tires and the whole car, although I thought it was kind of
useless since they did not go under and do the chassy. I guess they were
also inspecting the cars with their eyes to make sure no birds were
getting off the Island. Some may have used boats to get some stock
off--may luck be with them. About another 100 soldiers were on the
island itself.
The authorities announced that no Domestic Poultry on Rügen had
tested for Avian Flu. Only the 13 of the wild birds on the Island had it
in their system, so far, of the 100s gathered. But they were going to
kill all the domestic poultry on the Island, anyway. as a "precaution"-
the word in German is Voraussichtlich. So what was the use of us
keeping our birds inside the last 4 months?
Last night 2 wild birds with Avian Flu in their system were found on the
mainland in the state of Mecklenburg Vorpommern ---- south to Rügen.
So I am hoping the authorities wiill come to their senses and stop the
killing. They cannot kill all the domestic poutry in Germany because
some wild bird have it-and forbid us all to have poultry for years to
come. And ruin the existance of thousands of small farmers in Germany. I
am thinking of a way to hide some birds in the giant attic in my house.
When will they inspect the next wild duck in the river below and want
to kill every chicken and duck in out village too? The Politicians have
gone mad. The politicians are in charge at the moment- the German
president Merkel. Last night in France the Ministry of Defence had
taken over the Avian Flu program and the first thing they did was order
160 million gas masks. My german husband and I started laugh- we could
not help ourselves, even though it is a serious matter for the poor
farmers- but the madness is so that the first reaction is laughter at
the rediculousness. Now who is profitting from that madness?
