I was going to say fried chicken I do like them living too. I actually can't kill my girls. They all die of old age because I treat them like pets. My favorite variety of the ones I've had so far is Rhode Island Reds.

Plucky Chickens as opposed to plucked Chickens Favorite Breeds are New Hampshires for their big brown eggs and Salmon Favorelles just because they're so pretty.

Old thread but......... I like the chickens fine but I am a bit partial to ducks. Especially Khakis. They are just more entertaining to watch imo and easier to get back into the coop imo (and they don't roost in trees like some of my more bullheaded chickens lol). Where one goes they all go, or at least mine do that. I have had a few that laid better than the chickens. Noisey guineas would probably be my least fav. I raised purples for a couple of years and while I thought they were pretty and generally nice birds those things were the most annoying creature. I didn't mind the noise during the day but all of those things sounding off at midnight or 4am got old in a hurry.

oya va.... At the old farm I really liked my Dutch hook bill ducks. Sadly the new farm had no place to house them and it will be awhile before we can build anything. Favorite big chicken was the Salmon faverolles... The bantams we have right now are the d'Uccles. Lay tasty little eggs.
