Sigh ~~ So DH & DS wanted a few full sized Chickens. The feed store was near where DS had to get his braces tighten. So we ended up with 5 Rhode Island red pullets. Sweet ...chicks..hope they stay that way when they are older. Pictures will be coming soon..along a video called the..."Chick Flick".

They are precious! RIR's usually stay very sweet as long as you handle them. The only thing is they're stupid. My Austrolorps call them hawk bait... I swear, it's always the RIR's that get nailed so I don't have any anymore.

Aw, nothing sweeter then baby chicks. Its hard to turn down any kind of chicken when they are chicks...that is why I am staying away from feed stores until they are gone, lol.
We had RIR, but the hens picked on my Buff and black Orpingtons, and Austrolorps something terrible and had to be seperated. This was back when I had hundreds of chickens and was selling them to F.F, so I didn't get anymore. I do love their color though.

Well, feed store did not have much in the way of options. Was either them..leghorns or the wyndottes I decided I do not like. So will see what happens.
Would of much prefered Salmon Faverolles..but no one sells them local and our Hen house is not big enough for more than 5 big hens at most. So buying from a hatchery was out. They also want a couple of turkeys. Told hubby..if he wants them,,he would have to care for them. Needless to day..the turkeys have not come home. <LOL>
My d'Uccles that I have left are very smart...Roo's are very good at protecting everyone. Figure at some point then will protect the big hens too.
