The most chickens I will have is 25. I was thinking of building a 8 X 8 coop since materials are so expensive! That would end up being 2.56 sq ft of floor space for each chicken indoors. The outdoor areas will be approx 10 x 30 on each end of the coop so I can rotate scratch areas. Do you think that will be enough room?

my old coop was 4'6'' by 8'. the most chickens i ever had was 13. i thought it looked a little cramped when they where all inside.
the 10x 30 area's will be down to dirt in no time. even with two areas. which isn't necessarily a bad thing. i never had much luck trying to keep them in the attach outdoor area. i was too much of a softy. they seem sooo much happier clucking in the grass. they would all gather around by the door, waiting to be let out, when they saw me coming.
i miss my chickens.
