I never did, but I do know that Murray McMurray will vaccinate for like 10 cents a chick. Can't remember what they vaccinate against tho.

yea the cost is negligible. i've just never been confronted with the option.
i use to get chicks from a feed store. the owner always said that they had be vaccinated. i just never gave it a second thought, as to vaccinated for what.

Mareks' seems to be the main diseases that chicks are vaccinated against. I always had ordered chicks vaccinated but my own homestead hatched chicks weren't since they came from 'clean' parents. One thing I was very picky about was biosecurity. I isolated any new birds that I bought for 30 days in a pen at least 150' away from the main poultry pens. I also wore different shoes when working with any new birds and never wore those into my main coops/pens. Over the years I never had any losses due to disease while I had friends who had whole flocks affected by mysterious respiratory diseases. If it was being careful that helped I don't know, but if I ever have birds again, I'll do it the same way.
