...pretty easy nevertheless, all things considered: Ira The Handsome. Breed verdicts still range from Dane puppy and mastiff mix to peanutbutter mix and full-blooded peanutbutter. Whatever he is, he's a good boy for his age!!

Oh, he's beautiful, Vera! What is he, about 6 months? No wait, his feet aren't big enough. He must be older than that. He does look like he has some Dane in him. I never heard of a Peanutbutter dog - is that a nickname for the brindle color?

Lannie, he's about 9 months old... calling him a "peanutbutter" (PB) is my way of avoiding the term "pitbull" (PB) since that has such an ominous sound to it. The funny thing is that he weighed 30 lbs when he was just under 3 months old (BIG), so I'd think that he has something big in his genes... but he's only put on a little over 10 lbs since then, and he grew from 18 inches to 22 inches. That's definitely not much gain in size/weight for a growing pup. His face and build scream "PB", so maybe he was just a big puppy.

The coloring also looks like some Peanut Butter's that I've seen. ;D
But wouldn't a PB have a more muscular build? Or would Dane throw that off?
No matter what he is or isn't-he's a beauty.

Well, it's hard because you can't see his face in the picture, but I wouldn't have guessed PB because he's so light through the body. Gotta be some Dane or maybe even Greyhound or something in there. My mom used to have a huge big dog that was half Greyhound and half Great Dane. She was as big as a Dane, but willowy like a Greyhound (not quite as thin, but very light). Anyway, who cares? He's a gorgeous -- I mean HANDSOME boy! ;D

Not stocky, but very muscular for a young dog who gets no exercise to speak of... here's a better view of his face: Playful pup... his tail is actually pretty long, but he normally carries it somewhat curled: Ira and Hunter the Dane: You be the judge And if we can't figure out what he is, we'll go with "handsome" and "gorgeous", LOL! He won't mind at all (especially if you compliment him on his new collar with the mooses on it - I think that's what broke the ice between him and Marchwind! She flattered him shamelessly, and he just melted ;D)

Yup, now that I see his face, he's definitely at least half PB. The other half might be Dane, but he's actually smaller than I first thought, when I see him with Ira, so I don't know. Mastiff would be a much heavier build...
And speaking of Ira, his muzzle looks too long and narrow to be pure Dane. Is he crossed with something else? Or has the conformation of Danes changed that much over the last 20 years? Maybe it's just because he's lying on the bed and I can't see him full-face.
Pretty dogs, though! Both of them. WAIT! Sorry, I meant "handsome!" I know how boys fret and fuss when you imply they're "pretty!" LOL!

Sorry, Vera, I got the names mixed up. I kept saying Ira when I meant Hunter. I don't know, Hunter just looks like an Ira to me, I guess! ~Lannie
