Here are some basic conditions all good kennels should meet.
The staff should be friendly and spend time with the animals. You can’t just put a dog in a crate and forget them.
The dog needs attention the kennel is unfamiliar to them.
The dog should exercise at least twice a day and should be in human company as much as possible.
The kennel should be safe, clean and secure with plenty of room to move around.
Kennel personal should know as much about the dog as possible, including habits, foods they eat, the commands the dog knows, his heath record, and how the dog responds to other dogs and humans.
A good kennel is only as good as the people that work there.
What you don’t want to see your dog has worn spots in the fur indicating it has either been in cramped quarters or been biting their self. There should not be any coughing or wheezing (known as kennel cough). It is best to have your dogs shots updated before your dog before it goes to the kennel. Many kennels require that you have proof of your dog’s shots/vaccination records.
When you dog is returned to you it should smell good and had a bath. The dog should be excited and happy to see you.
