Love Your Pet Day When : Always February 20th Love Your Pet Day is day to pamper your pet. People just love their pets, and today is an easy excuse to spend time with them, and to give them special treats. Whether its a dog, a cat, a fish, a pet snake, or your pet rock......give them lots of love and attention today. If you don't have a pet, maybe today is the day to adopt a pet. Take a trip to your local Humane Society, and bring home an animal that needs you. It will make you both feel good.

I know, when I wished the kitties a Happy Love your Pet day-they looked unimpressed and gave me that cat version of "Ya, so how's this different than every other day".

Maybe I'll toss my baby a few extra pieces of food this evening. As DH pointed out, the amount she loves you is directly proportional to the amount you feed her. /VM

Well mine got a treat this morning-Organic Swiss Cheese. ;D Normally, I'll give them a small piece of Cheddar but since it's their day I gave them the 'good stuff'.

I know, when I wished the kitties a Happy Love your Pet day-they looked unimpressed and gave me that cat version of "Ya, so how's this different than every other day". I know, isn't that the truth. I think she knows she just one spoiled little babe in general. When my college daughter was last home, she joked about how she wished she could be a kitty cat, then she quickly corrected herself to...No, not just any cat...this little Kitty Cat, for she is the center of attention, I am afraid. You know what? Tonight, I am going to visit my man, and was going to take some more stuff out of my freezer, yet, I think I will pretend I forgot....Once last wk., I cleaned out my deep freeze thinking this stuff would make wonderful dog treats for his lab, alright? No. His son got all excited and decided to cook it all for supper that very night with leftovers for the next day. Oh, my. I don't think I have ever laughed so hard at men in my entire life. My daughter was a veggie child yet started eating chicken when she went to college. Everytime she comes home, I buy her a box or bag of something easy, like the Banquent Chicken Strips or Nuggets, but she never eats them all before she leaves. The men were in heaven, and I was absolutely horrified. Deb

FUNNY! When I starting reading this earlier I remembered I was boiling an egg for my bird because he is starting to molt. That egg had been cooking for some time and I for-got! Luckily everything was OK and he got his egg. (The yellow part and the shell crushed up together) My bird and dog are not spoiled they are just loved to pieces! LOL

Starfire, what is the reason for giving the bird an egg when moulting-extra protein?
I've never had pet birds so I'm pretty clueless about their care.

It is a stressful time when they molt. He goes through 2 hard molts a year (Spring and Fall) then also molts about 2 other times a year but not as heavy.
The yolk and crushed shells is for protein as you mentioned. The shells is to have them digest the food like gravel paper or a cuttle bone.
I always know when the weather is about to change when he starts molting. He is better then the groundhog. LOL
