Bird Crackers
Peanut butter
12 saltine crackers
Bird seed
Spread peanut butter on both sides of the crackers and dip in the bird seed, completely covering the cracker. Let sit for about 15 minutes. The cracker will soften a little.
Punch a hole in the top and attach a ribbon for hanging.
Cold Weather Treat for Horses and Ponies
1 cup apple cider
1 cup corn oil
2 ounces glycerin
2 pounds crimped oats
5 pounds flaked corn
Heat the apple cider to boiling. Mix with corn oil and glycerin. Pour over the oats and corn. Stir thoroughly. Let this blend stand for 5 minutes before serving.
(My sister does this one)
Doggie Ice Cream
2 cups vanilla yogurt
Mashed bananas
2 tablespoons honey
Mix ingredients and freeze in ice cube tray. Voila...sweet, cool bite-size treats for your pooch!
(My dog loves this in the summer)
Kitty Treats
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup tuna oil, chicken broth or beef bouillon
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix all ingredients into a dough. Dust hands with flour and form small, 1/2-inch thick, round biscuits. Set on greased cookie sheet. Bake 30 minutes or until biscuits are slightly browned. Cool 30 minutes before serving
Winter Salad for Horses
6 apples, quartered
8 carrots, cut in three inch pieces
2 cups Quaker oats
1 cup sweet feed
Molasses
Combine all ingredients and fold in enough molasses to make the oatmeal and grain stick to the fruit. Chill overnight and serve.
(I also got this one from my sister)
Kitty Cookies
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 (6 ounce) can tuna in oil, undrained
1 tablespoon vegetable oil or bacon grease
1 egg
Combine all ingredients; mix well; add small amounts of water if mixture is too thick. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll out to 1/4-inch thick. Cut shapes with a cookie cutter and place 1 inch apart on an uncreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes, or until firm. Allow to cool on wire racks.
