I went to PetCo yesterday when I went to the cashier there was a girl in front of me with a puppy. We were talking to her about her puppy. Her sister also had a puppy. They looked about in their early 20’s. When she got to the cashier she had something that looked like Front Line for fleas and ticks. The cashier asked her if she was planning on putting that on the puppies. The girl said yes. The cashier said, How old is the puppies, she said 4 or 5 weeks old. The cashier said honey; you don’t need to put that on those puppies. You really shouldn’t have them out in public until they have had all their shots, they don’t even look like they have been weaned from their momma. (the girl also has 2 small bottles) The girls said, you mean I have to get them shots? Come to find out someone gave this girl these dogs from a parking lot, she didn’t know the person. She thought the dogs was Taco Bell dogs (can’t think of the name of them) but they looked more like mix breed. The girl said she has never had a pet before and looked as of she was going to cry while me and the cashier was talking to her. The cashier gave her the name of a vet. So hopefully she will take care of the dogs. She is going to be in shock when she finds out how much the shots are and how much work she is in for. I thought it was just a sad situation.

Those poor puppies! If they aren't even weaned yet....then they will have to be bottle fed! I wonder if they just thought it would be "fun" and when the fun wears off....those poor poor puppies! I hope that it all works out! I am glad that she happened to be in front of you in line or they would still be "in the dark" about it all!

I'm so glad you were there and the cashier was so helpful. I'm glad there are people like you two who will speak up. How else would such people learn things? Yes, I feel very sorry for the puppies but I almost feel more sorry for the girls. I just don't understand how people can grow up with NO exposure to pets. Oh well, it takes all kinds I guess. Hopefully this will be a good learning experience, emphasis on GOOD!
