My son's cat is getting old. She is 12 years old now and getting worried about her. Not much the Vet can do. Have her on spendy joint meds, vitamins and some of the best food out there. Normally I can patch up or get any animal to feel better. Sigh ~ ~ It is so hard to watch. Over the many years I have had a few cats that I loved dearly. All ended up from dying of old age or feline luekmia, that was back before the vaccines came out. Bought tore my heart out. Have tried to disance myself from my son's cat because of this. Silly I know. But it isn't helping. My son is so attached to her. She think he is "her" pet. Just hope it doesn't tear his heart out too. This is Heidi, when we first moved here almost 2 years ago.

She's very pretty; is she a tortoiseshell or a calico?? She's not really all that old yet, most of mine lived to be between 16 and 26! Since you believe in herbals, have you tried adding glucosamine & chondroiton to her diet for her joints? I gave that to all of my old animal and all of mine were old. It may not prolong their lives but it seemed to keep the joint pain from old age away so they were less stiff and just seemed happier once I started them on it. I know about the loss, just a few minutes ago while trying to find a pic to post for your other thread about peaceful pics I found the pics of ChiChi. Even now, 2 yrs after having to have her put to sleep, it brought tears to my eyes and tears a little piece of my heart out to see that sweet face. She was all black so I had to fade the pic a bit so you can see what she looked like. She had just turned 14 when I took this one.

She looks like a cross of Calico and tabby.....has the oddest but neat color.
Yes, her join meds have all that stuff in it. Vet just said some cats age faster than others. Sigh ~ ~
ChiChi, was cute. Sounds like you loved her very much.

We had a Simeese (?) cat when we were growing up. She lived to 13, she died of old age. We all cried, we all loved that cat.

Aw, bergere, I'm sorry to hear it. It sounds like you're giving her the best possible life and a safe place to live out her time, though. My baby turned 10 this summer and she's starting to slow down. I think about it like this: I adopted her at a time in my life when I was very sad and lonely. She has been a faithful companion for me and in return, I have given her love and a safe, warm home. (And food. Lord knows, that cat loves her food. ) Those special pets that hold a place in our hearts will always be with us in spirit. /VM

Be careful what you say. My nephew just passed away at 21 yrs. Another nephew passed at 19. So she's got some time left in her. Give her a big hug and let her purr on your chest. It's good for the soul. {{hugs}}
