They grow up so fast!!! He's just practicing for gardening season; now if you can just train him to dig the holes for your seed potatoes. Lucky came in tonight and his white paws were muddy-I bet there's a whole somewhere in the back yard. I think he's digging up peanuts the squirrels bury-he loves peanuts in the shell. Aren't dogs funny critters; you never quite know what they're going to do next.

I don't know if you have moles in your area, bbird, but if you do just wait until he catches on about them! Your yard will look like a B-52 strike happened there! I speak from long experience.

Until you can drop a small import car through it to China, I don't want to hear it.

lol Cricket!! You know, we probably have moles, but no mole hills or holes. The cats bring us them though, which makes us happy! Our oldest dog can be a digger. She minds really well and doesn't dig in the yard but will go out in the woods and dig and bring us mountain beavers. Plus we can't dig with a shovel around her because she wants to eat the dirt as it flies off the shovel. I can't tell you how many times we have beamed her in the head with the shovel. Dogs are interesting, that's for sure. Dufus hasn't learned what the word bad is yet. Our other dogs duck their heads and act like they knew what they were getting into trouble for. Not Dufus though, I sternly yell no, and he rushes at me and slobbers on me like he is the funniest dog.

Is he deaf? Or partially deaf? Can you startle him while he's sleeping using only sound...No vibrations, etc? Recently had a friend discover her "dumb" dog was deaf as a post. The dog had been responding to smell and vibrations rather than sound.

Nope, he can hear. He hears us call his name, can sit, lay. Even barks at little noises in the night. We can be inside and talk about Dufus and his ears pop up and he comes to the sliding door and looks at us like... What do you want with me?, Oh and can somehow hear the plastic bag open from outside when its treat time, lol.
He's just a dog that doesn't think anyone wouldn't like him. Even people who come up to the house he barks like crazy, but all they have to do is talk to him and he starts wagging his tail. Which is really what his job is. I didn't want a mean dog, but one that would bark as a warning system. So I think this is more just a immaturity thing then a medical problem.
