Since this board includes all of the miscellaneous crafts-what crafts/arts do you do? Mine would be etching, candle making, soapmaking, jewelry making, decorative art(limited), wreath making & nature crafts. I'm also able to do some limited, straight forward woodworking.

Well, rehabbing old homes is, I consider that a craft/hobby. Actually, I do quilting, both large for the bed, in-between, and custom-size wall quilts.
Macrame plant hangers...A few yrs. ago I revived my former hippy-days skills. I just hate to even look at those whimpy, stretchy yarn hangers a person can buy in a store. I gave up counted cross-stitch a couple yrs. ago...Yes, I am one of those middle-age, should have broken down and bought bi-focals last time, but I was too vain. Yet, I have enough projects, basically finished, just need the finishing touches on-hand to last me a life time. Grapevine wreathes and trees. Woodworking, new and refinishing things I buy at sales or auctions. I used to make candles, but when I am short on time for I am continually rehabbing one old house or the other, I just buy them now. I enjoy hunting odd stuff up at sales or even small shops and discovering a re-use for something. Maybe all it takes is a touch of spray paint. Houseplants and herbs, propagating them and my perennials I have collected over the yrs. to share with friends and family. Digging up and relocating or growing out wild tree/bush seedlings to give away...Does that count? That is my favorite good-weather activity. Deb ;D

wow.... I should just say "pick one". I garden, sew, embroider, quilt, write poems, crochet, do woodworking (medium skill), shoot pool, ummmm.... make wreaths, do a lil basket weaving, basically the first 4 are the main ones. But I'll try almost anything twice, more if I like it. ;D

Humm,, Right now I make yarn. ;D Also paint pictures,, though it takes me a longgg time to finish. Have a counted cross stitch that I started 10+ years ago. Have made little paper boxes, painted them and use them for storage. Made curtains when needed. Made a Table for my son to do school work on,,, and boy is it ugly. Have made simple wreaths. Make Xmas ornaments. Basicly just do what ever I need or am interested in at the time.

becca, start a thread asking for craft ideas for your kids, if possible list some of their interests as well as ages for those that don't know.. You'll have more ideas than you ever wanted!! Off the top of my head I can think that most teens would enjoy jewelry making; assuming your beliefs don't preclude wearing jewelry. Does she have pierced ears? Also, Beading projects are fun to do and oh so pretty when they're done.

how's he with a large, blunt needle-is his coordination and control pretty good? I'm not saying he's clumsy, but some kids don't seem to have the control needed for handsewing that young. If he can control a blunt needle with your supervision-get some cheap felt or a stiffer fabric and cut out shapes with 1/2" seam allowance; 2pc with the right sides facing in. He can hand sew them and then you can do the trim of the seams. Turn them right side out and he can embellish them with craft store eyes, pom pom nose, puffy paints, things like that.

Since this board includes all of the miscellaneous crafts-what crafts/arts do you do? Oh Lordy what do I not do? I cycle through hobbies depending on my mood and the time of year. My most recent kick has been whittling and spoon carving. I've done some basic outdoor furniture and rebuilt the porch on front of our house. Before that I was painting and drawing. I'd really like to build my own kitchen cabinets but I suspect I will be overruled on that one. I'll be doing odd repair jobs around the house for the rest of my life too. I've tried my hand at: Sewing Clothes Cross stitch Embroidery Quilting Beading using a loom Scrap-booking Decorating Paper Mache Glass Etching using the paste Painting - Drawing, etc. Outdoor Furniture, raised beds, containers, etc. Do it Yourself Construction Whittling and Carving - Spoons mostly Simple Indoor Woodworking -sanding and finishing mostly Gardening Canning - especially like to make jams and jellies Baking Cooking Reading about all the above Collecting books
