No, I took a course in slab pottery, but ran out of funds before I could learn the wheel.

Oh gosh, me too! Pottery always looks so fun and messy. It's amazing watching someone at a wheel start with a lump and get a bowl...too cool. (ok, who else has the scene in the movie Ghost going on in their head? ) A few years ago I bought a router, dremel and skill saw planning to make neat stuff with wood. Problem is wood is spendy around here so I haven't done much.

My Hubby wants me to learn to weave...then maybe I would be able to do something with all the yarn I spin. But haven't gotten past looking at some of the floor looms. Maybe some day. I know of some folks that weave... they get a good price for their blankets! www.jacobsheep.com/blankets.htmThere is another one in NE canada that does this too. Have web links for weaving,, if you are interested. Have thrown pots but it was a longgg time ago. Deb is right,, it is messy. Lots of fun when I was young. I paint right now..though not as much as I should. IF I could get off my backside and gets some prints made of what I have already done, to sell.. might help bring a little bit of money in. Am using a new product...water based Oils. Is not toxic like normal oil paints. If it is crafts and creating stuff.. I have done all kinds of things. So if you have questions...ask away!! ;D

I took a pottery class when I was expecting my 2nd child....I loved it! We learned to make everything from slab pots, to pinch pots, to using the wheel! It was a bit of a hardship for me because I had to bend over my 7 month along tummy....but it was a blast! I still have a lot of the things that I made in there! It is harder than it looks! Least it was to me! I made lots of plates!!!!! Only a few bowls and several mugs....Plates seemed to happen when I aimed for bowls! LOL! I would love to take a class in it again!

Me too bbird; everytime I think about pottery making, the song & visuals from Ghost runs through my head! ;D
I've never worked on a wheel but hope to give that a try one of these days.
