I would love idea's on how to do things with pretty rocks. All my kids collect rocks, and seems like everywhere we go one of us is pocketing a rock because its pretty. So far we have tried painting them. That didn't turn out too well because they looked like a 6 year old painted them, lol. Kind of defeats the purpose of seeing the prettiness of them too. My daughter saw where someone used caulk and made a cabin out of river rock, so she is doing that right now. So far it looks really cute but she only has the bottom half of the cabin done. I've used gorilla glue to clue rocks together to make neat shapes. I only do two at a time and use a tie strap to hold them together for a few hours until dry. Any more idea's we can do? I tried to convince dh to lay them all out on the floor in our bedroom. I thought it would be cool to have rocks to walk on, but he scoffed my idea.

You can make "Faerie Lights". The rocks need to be fairly flat on 2 sides but ones with quartz imbedded or even coloured glass can be added for effect. Look cool in the day time but if you put a candle under them they look even better at night. I've seen them made to line walkways from 1-2 inch stones and aquarium glass, and I've seen pictures of one made at a campground that was made from 5-8 inch stones and could hold a 6 inch pillar candle.
Make a circle that fits the size of the rocks. Glue another layer onto this base layer, overlapping 1 rock over where two butt up to each other, and moved slightly inward. Leave small gaps between the stones in the second and subsequent layers. Continue building up layers like this until the lantern is tall enough to fit a chosen size candle. Find a flat stone that is large enough to cap off and overlap the top two or three layers. It should be shaped like a volcano with little gaps between the stones. Place a candle underneath and light.

That is a very cool idea, I have never seen those before but I bet they look really neat. Hmmm, we are going to be putting up a deck this summer, they would look neat on the railing, plus I wouldn't have to worry about the wind blowing them off. Thank you!!
