anybody know what type of string to use when making wind chimes? i tried using fishing line. it fell apart fairly quickly. i don't think it was protected against UV rays.

All the wind chimes I've seen use a thin black nylon woven cord. I've seen something similar available at the stores in small spools.

The small chimes that I have are strung with what looks like monofiliment fishing line. My large set is held together with a fine chain but it's really big-it weighs about 7 #!  |

I used 25# test monafiliment fishing line for most of my windchimes. For the sets we made from aluminum pipes we used chain.
