I decided to post this here as well, maybe we can get more intrested folks...
Who would like to post something they are going to make for Christmas/Yule etc 2006, then discuss progress throught the year. (and maybe pics at the end). Maybe this will get some of those "unfinished projects" finished. who's with me? (topic is discussed etc on the Holiday forum under.."This will toss a curve in your day") You can make as many or as few as you wish...
I will start easy and say I want to make my daughter a simple checkerboard patch quilt.

Well, does it count about something I gave as a 2005 Christmas present that needs to be made in 2006. I gave a quilt block to represent the whole quilt for my daughter for Christmas. she saw the fabric and wanted it (not her usual liking either)
so does working on it count?

Oh no...I finished the stuff I started in '05. I didn't say a word about the afghan I started 12 yrs ago or the yo-yo snowman I started 5 yrs ago. Really and truly though, they are my only ones that I still have to complete...and I doubt I ever will. And no fair trying to send me your stuff.... lol I get stuff finished because I work fast and don't start things unless I know I can go ahead and finish them right away. That's why I don't quilt. heehee

Cricket - you are going to make some of us want to bat you with a wet noodle..... the IDEA of not starting something unless you KNOW you can finish it in a timely manner. I guess I finish most everything, but sometimes, fun stuff gets put aside for paying stuff. Oh well, Phooyey on you. Angie

Now who in their right mind would actually wait till they can "finish" something before starting it?!?!?! Wow... that's a concept... might have to give it some thought. ok, that was a funny thought!! ;D Kaza

.... the IDEA of not starting something unless you KNOW you can finish it in a timely manner. Timely manner? Is hemming a brides maid dress as you're driving to the church a timely manner? Guess I don't get this concept either. :(LOL Lu

Kaza, they didn't need the dresses done before then did they? so that was plenty of time.

I put a zipper in a bridesmaid's dress as she was putting on her shoes to walk into the church. The pastor and the bride did NOT find it amusing. LOL Hey, my bridesmaid was the only one whose thread matched the material. And the zipper was NOT in my dress, btw. I know, it's really a sickness. I can't help it though. I tend to get focused on things and it makes me crazy when they aren't finished. Also, I'm usually winging it and not using a pattern so I have to work according to the pic in my head. If I don't move on it, the pic goes away and I have to do something different. hence why the other things aren't finished.... I also rarely buy stuff for one specific project. I get just "stuff" and then figure out what I want to do with it. Makes me crazy when I've only bought a couple of yards and I REALLY need about 7. So I usually get the bolt. ;D Problem solved... Makes dh crazy though. He's one of those linear people that has to have a "plan". Personally, instructions are the very last resort and then only after a couple of shots of tequila.

I've been saving worn out jeans for 2 yrs. I'm hoping this year to start and maybe even finish a genealogy quilt for my granddaughter. (to put in her hope chest) Each patch will have one relatives name (maybe DOB)embroidered on it and a symbol. Like my father is a retired firefighter so that patch will have a little firetruck and his name. My mom is a nurse so some nursing symbol on that. May even put 2 different things on it. The granddaughter's square with her name will be the middle square and the largest with her name, DOB and things she likes.
This may take more than one year.

I love my fabric stash, so much I'm letting it start to get out of the bedroom (stash room) and into the hallway, and into the room with the sewing/serging/computer/tv... where I make STUFF.
My daughter loves coming over and shopping in MOM's sewing store... she had one of my old sewing machines. The one I had with her growing up, and still loves it and it still works well. I sometimes have to buy her fabrics, and I admit some of the fabrics I buy, I know she will adopt at some point. Her colors are a bit different than mine...
Other daughter doesn not even sew on buttons....But appreciates having a Mom and sister that does.! ;D
But stashes are so great.
AND _ I did work on the Christmas present quilt top some last night..... aren't you proud of me? I am
Angie ( I thnik a rambled all over this post, but maybe there's some sense in it somewhere).
