I can't believe I did this! I've seen sewing for 50 years!
I'm making myself some summer nightgowns and am making two at a time because they use the same color thread. Anyway, I'm all done except for the ruffles on the bottom. I start doing them and discovered that I'm two panels short on each of them! Fortunately, I have enough fabric left to cut some more out, but I must have had a major brain fart to forget to cut enough. I've only used the pattern at least ten times!
Anyone else do something like that?

oh goodness Ardie.... that's an "easy" mistake. I've had some real wonder blunders!!
I've cut two "left side" pieces and no right, and had to run back to the store for more fabric (PRAYING that it matched perfectly)....
hehe.... well, that's ONE of my infamous wonder blunders...

hehe, I made a doozy a number of years ago. Cody went to Y camp every summer from age 7 until age 13, so he always needed shorts and summer wear. I thought I'd save some money and make his shorts-since they were simple elastic waist ones. I used an old worn out pair to cut the pattern. I did fine until it was time to sew up the crotch and somehow with my lack of sewing skills I ended up making him 7 skirts!! It took me all evening to figure out what I'd done wrong. Finally, I did figure it out and the shorts actually all had crotches by the time he left for camp but you should have seen his face when he tried on the first set before I fixed them. ;D

I just have cut out 3 jackets, and the fronts are lined BUT the lining must be a certain color on left side, and different color on Right side. Me - on one of them, I cut out the wrong color twice for one side. but got it right the 3rd time.

I've done that before. I've actually cut only the front of a skirt and went to sew it up...actually got to the waistband and went "gee, this is awfully small..." Yeah, it was a brain fart for sure!

I must be getting senile! I sewed pockets on a nightgown on the BACK! It certainly didn't look right and I checked. Yup! Got out the ripper!
I found some nice gingham at a good price so I decided to make two more nightgowns since the summer ones are so ratty. I guess I goofed up cause there is no right side or wrong side to gingham.

You aren't alone, Ardie...Ah, the joy of the seam-ripper. What a wonderful invention...Deb

I think you are a true seamstress when you WILL use that seam ripper and re-do. Or finish something you've decided you HATE just for the decipline of it.

Last November we went to the premiere of the new Harry Potter movie. The kids wore Hogwarts school robes and house colors. The ties were bought but I made the robes. Well, I zipped through the first two in nothing flat. The third robe, I had to set the pockets not once... not twice... would you guess five times? You'd think I've never done this before. I was about to scream.
