The same year I made Momma the bedspread I also made all my neices and nephews, uncles and aunts afghans. I made each of my sisters and brothers crocheted 4-ply yarn bedspreads that were more like blankets. I took a motiff pattern that was supposed to be used to make bedspreads with No. 10 thread and used 4-ply yarn instead. The colors above are orange/brown and lime/dark green. I also did denim/navy, peach/brown, lilac/violet and some others I can't remember right now. Also did one that was never photographed - a crazy quilt type pattern with a lot of color to it. My sister-in-law loved pink and had these colors throughout their house. I made this to fit their waterbed. Sorry about the stripes underneath showing through! The ones I made for my sisters has a couple of deer in a heart. I can't find good photos of those, but when I can get them I'll post.

Those are beautiful. I wish I had talent and the patience to make things like this. But I don't. You can add me to your Xmas list or I have a birthday coming up the end of Oct. ;D

WOW, double WOW! Do you share patterns? I would LOVE to learn how to make one of those!!! I adore the pink and burgandy one!!! My son would LOVE the rust colored one! His name is Rusty....and he loves that color!!! Do you make them in squares or are they triangles that you have crocheted together?

Nan, I don't even know where the pattern is anymore for these. I think it was in the Magic Crochet magazine (heard they had a name change to Monthy Crochet), but this was back in the late 80's. You can whip up an afghan easy by using one of their square shapped motiff patterns on the inside front cover. Just use 4-ply yarn instead of the number 10 crochet thread.
The afghans are just 6 squares that are crocheted together. You just start in the middle with the lighter color and do the pattern in that. Then when you finish the square, you do a darker color in halfdouble crochet to "hem" it, and then crochet or sew the squares together.

Thanks! Will have to check it out! They likely have something similar on the web for a pattern. That would be a good project to take with you and work on when you are having to wait for something.....or someone....
