Hi all - I've just made 3 of the pillowcase dresses, but using Hawaiian fabric. not hard at all, and the directions I have are for 12 month thru 4 year old. Just a couple of measurements change.
I'm contemplating selling these at the local Sr. Center gift shop (my uncle has an account there), and maybe trying on e-bay. I saw plain white, with pink ribbons and can put pink monogram on the dress. Heck, with the machines I have here, I can do that. But this dress was about to end the auction and was up to $21 or $22. She must have all of $2.50 in the dress in materials.
So I'm thinking the Hawaiian cotton I get wholesales and is really pretty, might be just enough different to be a seller. Also, they make a good hippy top for the teen crowd, or a pinafore over another dress for the more modest.
So, what have you guys been sewing and what do you think of the possibility of selling these dresses.
I'm going to go read the how to post a photo and see if I can post one of them I made today to show you.

Oh please post a pic. I've never seen what you are talking about, but very curious to see what they look like. Sounds like selling would work out for you, which is great!

OMG Angie! That is just adorable. If my daughter was young again, I would dress her in that. I bet you have no trouble selling those.
The fabric is right on! Bright colors for girls.

I have a blue one with white flowers done all except the shoulder ribbon. And they are multisized....
the next thing I'm making is a drawstring "hippie" style skirt out of darker hawaiian fabric. When I get it done I'll show you.
Thanks for the compliment on the dress.

Will love to see it. I'm envious of people who can sew. I have a machine, but everything I make looks hmmm...badly homemade! So I stick to pillows, curtains and mending, lol.
Yes, this is an item where a child could get a couple summers use out of it, size wise. I bet you could even put a shirt underneath it and wear it on cooler seasons too.

Oh that is really pretty! Is there something similar in adult womens sizes? Wouldn't that be a popular summer item?

To make one like that - about an hour...
I can make it adult size, same idea just a little more fabric. Hey, cricket - do you know of any places down there that would be interested in adult/children versions for dresses, or bathing suit cover ups?
The skirt is being worked out.
Shall I make an adult version and let you see it and what you think? Sounds like an idea to me, teens and others might like them.
