Hope I can explain this, so it makes sense. I have this idea....I want a couple overall's and turn them into capri's. I haven't wore overalls since I was 6 when my mom bought me a pair of baby blue corderoys with pink flowers on them. To have them look right, should I buy short legged one's (I have long legs) and roll them. Or my length one's and cut them off and sew a cuff in them? Now I have a long body too compared to men, and I am buying men's bib's because they are cheaper then women's, and I'm going for the "baggy" look more then the fit look, so am I right to think that the shorter the leg, the body will also be shortened? I think these would be easy to throw over a swimming suit, while fishing this summer in the cool mornings, but easy to take off too for a swim before heading home. Also for doing chores around the house or staying cool with just a tank top under them. Dd is having a panic attack though that I will wear them in public with dh, because he always wears carhart bibs (at home, at work, to social engagements) and she says we are going to look like dorks together. Although the opportunity to embarrass the kids is tempting......I promised her I would not wear them if dh was with us.

I got the Princesses denim overalls that are shorts for when they "work" here on the farm. They look so cute in them. They can slip them on over a tee shirt and be ready to help out.

Having long legs and body as well, I'd reccomend buying the longer legged ones. True, you can always adjust the straps to fit, but then the "bib" part lowers and you could end up with a belly-button cover instead of a bib. lol Kaza[/size] ~The Shy, Quiet Mod~

Thanks Kaza, that is what I was thinking. Just been a long time since I wore overalls, I didn't know if leg length effected the body part or not. I want to make them into capri's so I don't look manly in them and I can get into the water too while fishing or in the chicken pens without dragging the pants through....crap, lol.
Momo- overalls on kids look so darn cute!

I can't wear bibs because I'm so darn short and have an unusual body ratio. Since I'm not a sewing maven; I'll leave the suggestions to the experts. I just think Bibs are so cute on kids as well as adult women. Does anyone know where to find the Oshkosh Railroad looking bibs for little boys? I had them for Cody and wanted to get a couple of pair for Fintan. I can't find the railroad striped ones at the stores.

Had to run to town, so stopped in and bought a pair of bibs. Stoned wash, so they were soft and not rock hard like my dh gets, lol. A little warning to other women....women's bodies are not built like men's so when trying on men's clothing don't be shocked if your waist size in inches is bigger then you think!!!! Holy cow!! Since I had to fit my hips and not my waist it was such a shocker, lol.
I came home and marked and cut the bibs and rolled them to mid calf. Very cute, if I say so myself. I had on a white t-shirt and I really liked the look and it was comfy. There is something about how the bibs fit that make me look like I have more of a curve at my waist...which is a good thing! lol
Now when I tried the bibs on and the legs were long it made me look short and squaty (is that a word?) and I am 5'9". With them made into capri's I got my leg length back.
Thanks for the advice, I'm glad I did it! Now to go fishing!
