Well, spring is comming, and I look at my dresses longingly. I love wearing skirts and dresses (when it's warm). They are cooler than pants and shorts. So, anyways, to make a long story longer, I noticed that I have hardly any "nice" dresses. You know the type... like "lil black dress" types. So, my goal is to sew one or two "nice" dresses by spring. I was thinking a red one and maybe a blue one. (Now, just to think of where to wear them) I am saving sewing a lil black dress till I loose the weight I am loosing. Do you guys sew your dresses or do you buy them? Kaza[/size] ~The Angelic Mod~

I hate to admit it but I haven't worn a dress since my son's wedding. Ever since I got heavy, I feel more comfortable in pants. When I was younger I always wore dresses, and only wore jeans to do heavy work.

I buy...my sewing talent doesn't extend to dresses, lol. I would end up looking like well....not good with my own sewn dress!

I've made a couple of dresses, but don't like them on me - potatos don't look so great in dresses.
When I'm thinner I like them.
I do make them for others though.
Just do it, and have fun.

I sew my own dresses sometimes. I used to make all of them....but I discovered Goodwills around DC and Richmond...and these folks around here give NICE clothes with tags on them!!!! So...if I can buy it for 6 to 8 bucks..I will NOT sew it!
Check out the sales Kaza...they have linen at Hancock's and some nice stuff at JoAnn's. If you want a pattern...they also have McCall's at Hancock's for 99 cents!, but I think it goes off this weekend??

Oh boy... I do not have a nice dress,,,never go anywhere. You have seen the kind of skirts I wear... I have a 1890's brown one that is a little more formal...but only gets warn about 2 twice a year. I can't wear the slinky dresses because I can't wear high heals. Toes stepped on to many times by horses and live stock. Just hurts too much to wear those kinds of shoes. So it has to go well with the western type lace up boots I have. Would love to see what you make Kaza!

Don't hold yer breath Bergere... I'm still looking at all my patterns and trying to decide if I'm using one I have, or one I saw at Jo-Anns...
