Buying On eBay Motors
I know a few of you have talked about buying or selling a car. Well here is a article with tips and tricks for buying a car on line.
"For most of us, buying a new or used car ranks right up there with root canals and meeting the in-laws in the stress category. Pushy salespeople, fast-talking managers, and confusing 12- page contracts can make you want to forget about a new ride and take up hitchhiking instead. eBay Motors (, the section of eBay dedicated to new and used vehicles, might change your mind. It could even change buying a car into an
enjoyable experience.
eBay Motors isn't strictly dedicated to cars: You can also use it to buy and sell boats, aircraft, trailers, ATVs, and even buses and commercial trucks. We'll assume here, though, that you're not shopping for a Jet Ski or a military vehicle, just a standard car, truck, or motorcycle."

Analyze eBay Feedback For Safety
Analyzing feedback is a good way to help to prevent scams. Look for sellers who have an established history of credible sales and pay special attention to any negative feedback a seller has. If a seller has a low feedback score or is a first-time seller, proceed with caution. Compare the nature of the seller's feedback to the auction you're following.

Fraud Alert !
And this was going around Oct of 2005, and it might still be floating around.
I just wanted to alert everyone of the latest email fraud / phishing scams
that claims to pay eBay / Paypal customers $20 dollars for answering a
supposed eBay-related survey. On the reward-survey.com, the page states
that you must "enter your credit card information linked with your eBay
and/or Paypal account ... [and then they] will deposit the $20 cash back
directly to your account within three business days of your next purchase."
Of course, nothing of the sort will happen (and quite the opposite, I might
add)!

Skype will add a trusted voice platform to eBay’s e-commerce sites while continuing to run as a standalone business.
September 12, 2005
eBay said Monday it will buy Skype, the world’s largest provider of VoIP services, for $2.6 billion in cash and stock plus potential considerations that could hike the deal to $4.1 billion.
Skype has been at the center of the global rumor mill recently. Earlier rumors had the company in takeover talks with News Corp., but the rumors that Skype and eBay were talking intensified last week with a number of major publications adding to the increased level of chatter.
eBay will both integrate Skype’s technology into its auction site, and continue to run the fast-growing VoIP provider as a separate communications business. According to eBay CEO Meg Whitman, the integration of voice into eBay’s auction deals will increase the level of trust between buyers and sellers.
“Voice is a preferred method of communication in business, and communications is at the heart of e-commerce and community,” she said. “We see Skype as a large opportunity and a company that has a sustainable advantage and great leadership.”
According to Ms. Whitman, the combination of Skype, eBay, and PayPal, eBay’s online payment company that it acquired for $1.5 billion, will create unmatched synergies and provide an e-commerce and communications engine for buyers and sellers around the world.
For instance, eBay could add a pay-per-call platform to its current transaction-based fees. Pay-per-call communications opens up new categories of e-commerce, according to Ms. Whitman, especially for those sectors that depend on a lead-generation model such as personal and business services, travel, new cars, and real estate.
eBay executives expect similar Skype synergies with its other shopping web sites: Shopping.com, Rent.com, Marktplaats.nl, and Kijiji.
