Try an advanced search. Search engine developers try to make things extra easy for novice users by providing an Advanced Search, Advanced, or Advanced Options link next to the search text box. For example, go to Google’s home page and click the Advanced Search link to the right of the search text box. At the top of the page in the blue shaded area, you’ll see four text boxes, each with a different name: With All Of The Words, With The Exact Phrase, With At Least One Of The Words, and Without The Words. You’ll see nearly identical options if you visit the Advanced Search options at Yahoo! or Ask Jeeves. Another way to perform an advanced search is to use a variety of search engines. Try Vivisimo ( vivisimo.com/ ), which categorizes the results folders; IceRocket ( www.icerocket.com/ ), which puts a thumbnail picture of the site in the search results; and Ask Jeeves ( www.ask.com/ ), where you can ask a question in a complete sentence. Each of these sites offers advanced search pages, as well.
