Vista came with my lap top, no choice. It is different...easier to use I think. Does take getting used too. I just have the expanded Home version.
So does anyone else use Vista?

My new PC was probably one of the last with XP on it. I ought it in January and the next week, all of the machines had been replaced with preloaded Vista machines. I don't know if that's a good thing or not-I guess it could be problem down the line when XP becomes obsolete I love my XP Media Edition since I'm using it for music and photography.
Bergere, what is different with Vista? In the last 5 yrs I've gone through Win 95 to Win 98 to Win2K and now to XP and other than minor things it's always been pretty much the same.
Every ad I've seen makes Vista sound like a totally different critter.

Man where to start. OK...
Instead open having to open new windows to move back and forth between forums.. Ie like sharing photos and bringing them from Photobucket to here..is much easier because you keep just the same (one) window open but you have tabs now. Hard to explain without showing. Is a lot easier for me.
I have XP pro on the other 3 machines...this is the only one with Vista.. There are a lot of things that Vista is too new for.. like Key boards. I had to get a Key board because this lap top is too heavy for me. This key board is the only one on the market that was bulit for Vista..so it was a breez getting it to work. Also a bluetooth key board..very sweet multia media one. Others are updated with Vista software and don't work as well. There are going to be problems with printers and the like to for awhile.
Anyway..back on track You have this side bar..has a place for a nice clear and easy to read clock,,calendar,,,weather station and the like. It does ask for permission to go to sites it deams not safe...but you just click ok and you can go on with what you were doing. It has all the bells and whistle like the Multia media room, play DVDs, burn DVD or CD's...stores music for you can up load Ipod music without needing an ipod and store it on the computer. I have not looked in to the area for photographs yet.
Graphics are super, super nice.
To me it is more user friendly than XP. But you have to have a lot rip snorting machine to be able to run it. Only one other computer in this house would be able to handle it. And it is my son's Frankinbox. Ya.. he named his computer. <rolling eyes> Hand made by Hubby and son..nothing like it on the Market at this time!
I know folks that tried to put Vista on a machine that did not have a fast processor and enough Ram..and it killed their computer. Heard that from other folks too. So when they recommend required stuff...listen. Kind'a silly though,,but it sure makes folks have to up grade and more money in the computer designers pockets.
Just to let you know...my lap top is the bottom line on handling Vista. It is the Dell XPS Intel CoreTM 2 Duo hyper threading processors & 2 GB of memory. Can go up from there to beyond light speed but boy is it a whole lot of money!
Think Xp will be around for awhile,,,there are a whole lot of machines out there that can't handle it.
