This is one of those "must get creative things" that we steaders need to do when you just can't dash out and buy 500 dollars worth of building supplies! I'll try to keep it short. We needed to seperate breeding pairs of chickens and because I can't build a bunch of pens right now, the Cochins are now co-habitating with the goats. Yes but how do we feed them without the goats getting into the food and dieing of bloat you ask? ;D I actually pondered all evening and DH (MacGiver) came up with this idea. I'm going to cut a small hole in the fence, big enough for a chicken to fit through and on the outside of the fence attach a big plastic dog crate (with the wire door removed). Keep the top unlatched so that I can get in there to place water jug and feed bowl and "voila!" Chickens get in, goats stay out, food stays dry, all is good! (I hope..) ;D

If you have a camera, could you post a few pics of the finished design? It's amazing how inventive we homesteaders can get when push comes to shove. Great thinking & so much cheaper than the alternative! ;D
