I had a ton of green tomatoes on the vine when frost was coming. Taking the advice of someone on the internet, I attempted to freeze them.
I sliced and breaded them, and then separated them with waxed paper in freezer bags. There were about three layers per gallon bag. I broke them out on Sunday, and they worked out great. Just pop them right in skillet without thawing. We have about 6 or 7 more meals worth.
Next summer (this summer?!) I will probably try to freeze them on cookie sheets and then store them. They were still kind of chunked together, even with the wax paper.

Cool.
I was wondering if it was possible. We have 2 restaurants around here that serve them year round. Maybe that's what they do.

I love fried green tomatoes! I've frozen them before but I didn't bread them. I did that when I took them out of the freezer. I like the idea of them being fry pan ready-thanks!!

Awesome! I'll have to remember that! I don't like green tomatoes though.. prefer fried red tomatoes.

I prefer it when they have just a tinge of pink on the top! Tasty.
