Cajun Dynamite Dust
Ingredients
1/2 C paprika 6 T kosher salt 1/4 C coarsely ground black pepper 3 T basil 3 T filé powder 2 T garlic powder 2 T dry mustard 2 T onion powder 2 T dried oregano 2 T cayenne (reduce by 1/2 if you want it mild) 2 T white pepper 2 T dried thyme
Directions Mix all ingredients together. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark place.
Makes 2 1/2 Cups Seasoning Mix

I saw this before, Kathy, and much as I might not be that wild, I sure know men who are, and would certainly enjoy this thought. What, though, is file powder, and where do I get this? I most likely just never looked. Of course, please keep in mind, I lead a sheltered life in the midwest. Thank you, Deb.

file' powder is the powdered leaves of the sassafras tree. It's both a thickener and works much like okra does but it's main purpose is due to it's unique taste. Oh when it's used in gumbos it's doesn't produce the slimey 'feel' like cooked okra. If you pm me your address I'll send you a container of it. It's available in all the stores down here and is very cheap! We do love our File' Gumbo! ;D Just a side bit of info The Choctaw Indians in LA were the first to use it-and I'm 1/2 Choctaw!!
